The KC Streetcar Turns 6!

Celebrate Six Years of the KC Streetcar with a Troostival Festival in The City Market

Friday, May 6, 2022, marks the KC Streetcar’s sixth anniversary and all are invited to celebrate. KC Streetcar and Troostival are partnered to bring together a night of live music and art in the Historic City Market. Troostival is a Black-owned and -operated festival whose mission is to celebrate Black creativity and challenge racial injustice.

Troostival will feature live music by The Royal Chief, DJ Jamel Rockwell, DJ Jonisthenewblck, and headlined by The Phantastics. A live art experience will be performed by Kansas City-artist Jessie Green and the event will be hosted by Angela Believes.

The KC Streetcar’s 6th Birthday Celebration featuring Troostival will be on Friday, May 6, 2022, from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. at the Historic City Market at 20 E. 5th Street, Kansas City, Missouri.

Parking will be limited near the City Market. We suggest parking for free in the lots near the North Loop Streetcar stop at 7th & Main and taking the KC Streetcar to the fun.

On May 6, 2016, Kansas City welcomed the return of streetcar service to downtown nearly 50 years after the last ride in 1957. Since that time, more than 10 million trips have been completed on the 2.2 mile streetcar line through the heart of downtown, making it one of the most successful modern streetcar systems in the country. Even during the Covid-19 pandemic, the KC Streetcar kept operating, transporting people to essential services and activities.
