In preparation, streetcar service will decrease to 15-20 minute frequencies starting at 3:00 p.m. If weather conditions deteriorate and it is unsafe to operate, streetcars will hold at safe locations along the route until conditions improve. When Weather Impacts the Ride: What to Know About Streetcar Service

Severe weather can move in quickly, and when it does, safety becomes the top priority for KC Streetcar operations. Conditions such as heavy winds, hail, and weather patterns favorable to tornadoes can all impact service in different ways.

High winds have the potential to affect overhead power lines, while hail can create hazardous conditions along the route. In more extreme situations, streetcar service may be temporarily suspended to ensure the safety of passengers, operators, and the surrounding community. The KC Streetcar team monitors weather in real time in order to make informed and safe decisions about service.
