Route changes

New Route, Same Free Ride: What to Know About Riding the KC Streetcar Starting May 18

With the new KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension, every streetcar trip now travels between UMKC and the Riverfront. That means there is no longer a continuous “River Market loop” ride around the neighborhood.

So, what does that mean for riders?

If you’re traveling northbound and don’t want to continue to the riverfront, simply:

  • Exit at the River Market Northbound Stop on Grand Blvd
  • Transfer to the River Market Southbound Stop on 3rd Street
  • Hop on the next southbound streetcar heading towards downtown, Midtown, Plaza, and beyond
  • It’s an easy transfer and streetcars will continue arriving 10-12 minutes throughout the day

Heading to Delaware Street? There are options for you:

  • De-board at the City Market stop at 5th & Walnut and walk two blocks west
  • De-board at River Market Northbound stop and transfer to a southbound streetcar at River Market Southbound stop.

One More Change: New Stop Name

The stop previously known as River Market West is getting a new name!
For southbound riders heading into downtown and beyond, that stop will now be called: Delaware Stop

Same location — just a new name that better reflects the area it serves. Route and destination maps, audio announcements, and streetcar stop signage have all been updated to reflect this change.
