NFL Draft 2023

The KC Streetcar will operate leading up to, and during, the NFL Draft, with some modifications. There will be increased frequency and extended hours of operation, making the KC Streetcar the best way to get to all NFL Draft activities:

• Thursday, April 27: 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.
• Friday, April 28: 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.
• Saturday, April 29: 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.

Based on current plans, starting the Wednesday of NFL Draft week (April 26), the Union Station streetcar stop will be closed to passenger service. During this time and throughout the NFL Draft, southbound KC Streetcar passenger service will terminate at the Crossroads Southbound streetcar stop at 19th & Main. This means all passengers will need to de-board at that location. Passengers, pedestrians, and automobile traffic will not be able to access Main Street south of 20th Street during this time.

Additionally, northbound streetcar service will initiate at the Crossroads Northbound streetcar stop at 19th & Main while the Union Station streetcar stop is closed to service. All other streetcar stops and service levels will remain the same and all other streetcar stops will be open to passenger service.

Once NFL Draft activities conclude, the Union Station streetcar stop will remain closed to streetcar passenger service for an unknown amount of time to accommodate event deactivation. During this time, streetcar service will remain in operation with regular service hours and the Crossroads streetcar stops serving as the southernmost passenger boarding and departure location.

Five KC Streetcar Service

During the 2023 NFL Draft, the KC Streetcar will increase hours of operation, frequency, and capacity. There will be certain times of each day in which streetcar service will include 5 streetcars:

• Thursday, April 27 & Friday, April 28: 3:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. – 5 streetcar service

• Saturday, April 29: 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. – 5 streetcar service

A five streetcar service means frequencies are less than 10 minutes, making it the most efficient and reliable way to get around downtown.

KC Streetcar Preparation

Additionally, in preparation for the 2023 NFL Draft Event, the KC Streetcar team is working to ready the alignment and streetcar stops, increasing staffing levels, and testing high-capacity streetcar service plans. On Friday, April 7, the KC Streetcar team implemented a first-ever streetcar service plan in preparation for 2023 NFL Draft activities. The KC Streetcar fleet includes six total streetcars, five of which were out on route on Friday. At peak service, riders were able to board streetcars every 5-7 minutes from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
