KC Streetcar Kicks off a Long-Term Partnership with the Kansas City Current
The Kansas City Streetcar Authority and the Kansas City Current are excited to announce their long-term partnership which includes four co-branded streetcars. The 2025 KC Current streetcars celebrate the energy and excitement of the 2025 regular season and highlight the ongoing commitment to expanding public transit service and accessibility in Kansas City.
The four streetcars, now operating on the route, feature 13 Kansas City Current players, bringing fans even closer to the athletes who are shaping the future of women’s professional sports. This marks another chapter in a multi-year collaboration between the KC Streetcar and the Kansas City Current that has included unique branding activations such as full streetcar wraps and a branded streetcar stop arriving later this summer.
As part of this continues partnership, the KC Current is investing in boosted streetcar service on home match days and key events at CPKC Stadium. This investment allows the KC Streetcar to operate additional streetcars to minimize wait times and support increased demand. This enhanced match day service ensures that fans have a reliable, free, and efficient transportation option to the game. Boosted streetcar service is in place for the 2025 season and will continue through the 2029 season.
This expanded collaboration is part of a long-term partnership between the KC Streetcar Authority and the Kansas City Current that extends through 2029. Together, both organizations are committed to growing a shared vision of an accessible, vibrant Kansas City where public transit and professional sports elevate the urban experience.
With the KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension projected to open in early 2026, fans will have direct access to the world’s first stadium purpose-built for a professional women’s sports team. This extension will connect riders from the University of Missouri-Kansas City to Berkley Riverfront, offering a fare-free, convenient, and efficient way to experience the heart of Kansas City.
