Storytelling on the Streetcar Line

Celebrating Black History

Flyer design by JT Daniels

On Friday, February 22, 2019, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, the KC Streetcar is celebrating everything that makes Kansas City great, including our diversity and culture. Join us as we celebrate Black History Month with an evening of storytelling through poetry, spoken word and hip-hop music.

The event will feature Kansas City poets Sheri Purpose Hall, Glenn North, poet laureate of the 18th and Vine Historic District, and Bonafyde G. Weddington. Music will be provided by Kansas City’s own NuBlvckCity featuring Royce “They Call Me Sauce” Handy and Kartez Marcel. Student poets from Sumner Academy of Arts & Science will be featured and Ruby Jean’s will be open and serving healthy treats.

Hop on the KC Streetcar and head to this free and family-friendly event at Ruby Jean’s Juicery, downtown location, at 1111 Main Street right on the KC Streetcar line. Take the KC Streetcar to the Metro Stop (12th & Main).

This community event is a collaboration between the KC Streetcar Authority, They Call Me Sauce and Ruby Jean’s Juicery. *Artwork created by Kansas City artist JT Daniels.
